All Power Analyses Are Wrong, How To Be More Right

Abstract

Power analyses make many assumptions and nearly all power analyses are wrong. During this lunch & learn, we will review the 1) concepts of power and Type I and Type II errors, 2) how to detrermine if your sample size large enough to reliably detect a meaningful effect, 3) what factors and assumptions influence power analyses, 4) where can power analysis go wrong, 5) how to do a power analysis, and 6) what simulations can teach us about the power of a study.
